About Advocates for Surrogacy

Advocates for Surrogacy, LLC is a for-profit, full-service surrogacy agency based in Miami, Florida, and active as a business entity since 2010. It was founded by attorney Candace O'Brien, who is listed as its President and CEO, and the agency markets itself as attorney-founded and founder-led, with the founder personally managing each case. A bio on an affiliated fertility law practice site states that she has been a member of the Illinois Bar since 1992.

According to its website, the agency positions itself as the intended parents' "project manager" for an entire journey rather than a matching-only service. That framing covers matching with a gestational carrier, legal assessment, the medical process, the pregnancy and delivery, and the establishment of parental rights. Alongside its agency work it describes legal services and surrogacy consulting among its specialties, so families may encounter both the agency and legal sides of the practice in one place.

The agency says its focus includes LGBTQ+ intended parents and international arrangements, in addition to intended parents generally, and it works with surrogates who have carried at least one prior pregnancy. It publishes its fees, and eligibility requirements, surrogate compensation ranges, and Better Business Bureau details appear in the tables below. Its BBB file, opened in 2017, shows an A+ rating; the business is not BBB accredited.

Ownership appears to have stayed with the founder since the company was formed, and it remains a privately held LLC operating from Miami. The team footprint is small, consistent with a practice built around one attorney handling cases directly, and the agency describes that hands-on involvement as central to how it works.

My husband and I have had the absolute pleasure to work with Candace Obrien, founder and advocate for surrogacy and adoption situations. Candace is a warrior for individuals wishing to extend their families. From the moment we spoke with her, we could sense her empathetic nature and loyalty to the families she works with. Not only is she flexible and makes herself available, she is a true listener and HEARS what is being discussed. She has excellent attention to detail and is very organized. She invests her listening skills to each family uniquely, and is respectful of couples’ beliefs and wishes. She emphasized ‘being there for us, anytime’ and she delivers! When speaking to her, you don’t feel rushed or slighted; she is extremely thorough, resourceful and considerate. You can sense her sincerity and passion for the field. She has been doing this work for two decades and it shows! She is modest and humble despite her extensive accolades. She has a complete understanding and is extremely proficient in the process of adoption and surrogacy advocacy. When you find someone who truly CARES and ‘sees you’, it is an amazing feeling. We feel so fortunate to have found Candace and wouldn’t want to work with anyone else! She is a diplomatic class act.
