ConceiveAbilities is a for-profit, full-service egg donation and gestational surrogacy agency headquartered in Chicago. The agency says it has been operating since 1996, and it describes its work as matching intended parents with surrogates and egg donors and supporting both sides through the journey. Company listings indicate a team of roughly 66 people.
The program covers both sides of a match. Intended parents can work with the agency for gestational surrogacy, egg donation, or both, and the agency describes a proprietary matching process it calls Matching Matters, along with an all-in surrogate care and compensation package. Intended parents who are LGBTQ+ and those living outside the United States are served.
Surrogates apply directly to the agency and are supported by a match team through the medical, legal and post-delivery stages of a journey. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and the agency does not work with surrogates living in Louisiana or Nebraska. Age, body mass index and prior-pregnancy requirements, along with the agency's published fee range and maximum surrogate compensation, appear in the tables below.
ConceiveAbilities publishes its program fees rather than quoting them privately, and its Better Business Bureau profile details are also listed below. Ownership has not changed recently, and the agency's own materials present it as one of the longer-running surrogacy and egg donation programs in the Midwest.
AI summary of 9 reviews · can make mistakes
Reviews of ConceiveAbilities are sharply mixed, with roughly as many very negative accounts as glowing ones. Several surrogates describe a caring, responsive team that supported them through matching, medical and legal steps, and some say they returned for a second journey. Other reviewers, mostly prospective or current surrogates, report being dropped from the program with little or unclear explanation and say promised payments such as gift cards or referral bonuses never arrived.

Potential surrogates go anywhere else! My wife had three failed transfers and they dropped her even though she was contractually obligated for 4. Everything checked out perfectly each time and the clinic even said she had a “model uterus”. They seemed to care much more about the intended parents (the people paying them) than they do the potential surrogates. We’ve spoken to two other women who have had similar horror stories. We’ve now wasted months and months and have to start over.
View on Google (opens in a new tab)I want to be a surrogate more than anything - and I was led on to believe that everything was going great. I just received an email stating that I am no longer eligible - and they are unable to tell me why. I have had two healthy pregnancies & deliveries, I am of sound mind, and this is something I have dreamed of doing for a very long time - and despite the effort that has already been put in, I am not even allowed to know why I can’t move forward? It’s rude and a waste of my time. Furthermore, I was told I would receive some sort of gift card for my time - do you think that happened?! Lol!! I mean, totally unprofessional and inconsiderate of possible surrogates precious time and resources. Do better.
