About Growing Generations

Growing Generations, LLC is a for-profit, full-service surrogacy agency based in Los Angeles, California, founded in 1996. It coordinates gestational surrogacy journeys for intended parents and works with surrogates and donors, and it describes itself as a premium agency offering bespoke, personalized journeys. Alongside surrogacy, the agency offers an egg donor program and, according to its own description, coordinates sperm donation as well.

The agency works with intended parents who are LGBTQ+, single, or living outside the United States, in addition to heterosexual couples in the U.S. Surrogates are recruited from within the United States and must live in a state where the agency operates; the detailed eligibility criteria and compensation ranges appear further down this page. The agency publishes its program fees.

Growing Generations operates as a subsidiary of North Star Fertility Partners LLC, a Boston-based holding company formed in 2019 and held in the Cortec Group private-equity portfolio, alongside Circle Surrogacy, Reproductive Possibilities, the Everie egg bank and Surrogacy.com. The acquisition was completed on June 30, 2023. Kim Bergman and Stuart Bell, longtime principals of the agency, continue to be listed as senior partners, and the company's staff is in the range typical of a mid-sized agency.

On its website the agency cites roughly 30 years of experience, more than 2,300 families served, a 99.3 percent success rate, and surrogates drawn from what it calls the top two percent of applicants; these are the agency's own figures. It holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, which is not the same as BBB accreditation; the licensing and BBB details shown below give the full picture.

Recent ownership change: Operates as a subsidiary of Northstar (North Star) Fertility Partners LLC, a Boston-based holding company formed in 2019 and held in the Cortec Group private-equity portfolio, alongside Circle Surrogacy, Reproductive Possibilities, Everie egg bank and Surrogacy.com. Exact date Growing Generations was rolled into Northstar was not stated on the agency's own site; Cortec's portfolio page and Wikipedia both list it as a Northstar company. Founders/long-time principals Kim Bergman and Stuart Bell are still listed as senior partners.

Reviewers, mostly surrogates and egg donors, are overwhelmingly positive and often describe specialists as warm, patient and quick to answer questions from application through matching and medical clearance. Many also mention feeling supported by a broader team as they move between stages. A few reviewers were unhappy after being turned down during screening and felt the eligibility criteria or the time spent before disqualification were unfair.

Amy has been such a blessing as I worked my way through the beginning of the surrogate journey. She is always willing to help with any questions and provides support throughout the journey. I will miss working with her, but I am excited to move on to the next steps in the journey.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Serenity twice now for my journey during introductory periods and getting assistance finding my matches and she has been truly amazing throughout the process. She is incredibly kind, understanding, supportive, and genuinely makes you feel cared for every step of the way. This process can feel overwhelming at times, but Serenity has made everything so much easier and more comfortable. Her compassion, patience, and professionalism really stand out, and I honestly would not want to work with anyone else. I’m so grateful for all of her help and guidance during my beginning surrogacy journey.
