Southern Surrogacy is a full-service, for-profit surrogacy agency headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. It works regionally rather than nationally, serving intended parents and gestational carriers across Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama, with a second office in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The agency grew out of a law practice: Southern Surrogacy LLC operates as the surrogacy matching program of the firm Claiborne | Fox | Bradley | Goldman, LLC. According to the agency, it was founded by attorney friends and colleagues, and in-house surrogacy attorneys are involved from the start of the process rather than being brought in later. The published team includes founder Ruth Claiborne, Executive Director Amy Wallas Fox, based in the Charlotte office, Director of Operations Lila Newberry Bradley, and Lynn Goldman.
Southern Surrogacy has joined Bright Futures Families, a national agency co-founded by sisters Jennifer White and Ellen Trachman, an assisted reproductive technology attorney based in Denver. The Southern Surrogacy name and website remain in use, but the team now shown is Bright Futures Families' leadership, and the agency's page for gay intended parents states that inquiries are routed through the parent organization.
The program is built around regional, local matching, which the agency presents as keeping intended parents and surrogates within the same part of the country. Surrogates set their own compensation within the agency's range. Southern Surrogacy publishes its fees, and works with intended parents including same-sex couples. Eligibility requirements for surrogates, compensation ranges, and licensing and BBB details appear further down this page.
Recent ownership change: Site-wide banner and /team/ page state Southern Surrogacy 'has joined' / 'is now proudly part of' Bright Futures Families, a national agency co-founded by sisters Jennifer White and Ellen Trachman (Trachman is a Denver-based ART attorney). The Southern Surrogacy brand and domain remain live but leadership shown on /team/ is Bright Futures Families' team, and the gay-surrogacy page states all inquiries are routed through the new parent organization. No dated press release or filing confirming the transaction date was located; banner appears on pages crawled April-June 2026.

I love you guys as an agency especially working with Shira ! I have done surrogacy twice and Southern Surrogacy feels more family than an agency. I really appreciate the support and care you have provided. Thank you !
View on Google (opens in a new tab)I went through the whole process of surrogacy with Southern Surrogacy. The process was long and quite complicated at first. Shira was so easy to work with, she walked me through step by step. Anytime I had questions she replied quickly and explained every little detail. It was pleasure working with this agency to make sure that intended parents can start family by getting a bundle of joy. Even 3 monrhs after delivery Shira checks on me to make sure my mental state is good. I would highly recommend Southern Surrogacy
View on Google (opens in a new tab)BEWARE!!! As a most recent surrogate, this company ignored my plea of answers after I had an emergency C section & was ACCUSED of trying to STEAL the IP’s baby!! Hospital staff explained to lawyers after that was not the case, but in the moment the company had the IPs stressed out & after being cut open, 2 hours later they had a police officer interviewing myself and hospital staff!! (With no merit!) Creating a huge false narrative that caused huge tensions between myself & IPs. Whether you are a surrogate or an intended parent, stay AWAY from this company. Even before birth, the IPs and I had multiple complaints about this company. The disbursements were ALWAYS late, and there is only ONE case manager for ALL the cases- SHIRA. Who at one point paid the WRONG surrogate out of the IP’s escrow! If you value your relationship with the surrogate, as well as your journey to be peaceful and calm, STAY AWAY from this company.
View on Google (opens in a new tab)After 2 years of waiting to be matched (stupid Covid), we can confidently say it was all worth the wait! Our surrogate was the perfect person to help us make our dreams come true. Lynn and Shira walked us through the entire process and explained everything as we approached certain milestones. Our rainbow baby arrived in May and everytime I look at him I am just reminded of all the love and dedication everyone put into getting him here safe and healthy. Thank you Southern Surrogacy for making this family's dream come true!
