About ARR

Alternative Reproductive Resources, Inc., known as ARR, was a Chicago-based egg donation and gestational surrogacy agency. According to the agency, it operated from 1992 onward, matching intended parents with egg donors and gestational carriers. It was founded in Chicago by Robin von Halle and Mary Ellen McLaughlin, and von Halle is listed on its Better Business Bureau file as owner.

ARR worked as a full-service, for-profit agency, handling both surrogacy matching and an egg donation program, and its services were open to LGBTQ+ intended parents. Its work was centered in Chicago, though it also drew intended parents and prospective surrogates from outside Illinois who were willing to travel to the city.

In 2022 the agency was acquired by the fertility network Kindbody. The acquisition was announced on August 1, 2022, with ARR's team folded into Kindbody's KindEOS donor and surrogacy division. Von Halle later moved into a consulting role with Kindbody and in 2025 was announced as a strategic advisor to Graceful Conception. ARR no longer operates as an independent agency brand, and business listings now show the standalone company as permanently closed.

The Better Business Bureau maintains a file on ARR that was opened in 2003 and assigns the company an A+ rating; the business is not BBB accredited. Ratings and other details appear below.

Recent ownership change: Acquired by Kindbody; announced via PR Newswire on Aug 1, 2022, with ARR's team folded into Kindbody's KindEOS division. Founder Robin von Halle's LinkedIn dates the acquisition to July 2022 and states all 7 employees moved to Kindbody; she later moved to a Kindbody consulting role and in 2025 was announced as a strategic advisor to Graceful Conception. ARR no longer appears to operate as an independent agency brand.
