Reproductive Sciences Medical Center, known as RSMC, is a physician-owned fertility medical center based in San Diego, California. It is not a stand-alone matching agency: its surrogacy and egg donation programs sit inside a full IVF practice, alongside diagnostic testing, in vitro fertilization and OB/GYN care. The clinic describes this arrangement on its website as a "one-stop" in-house model, in which medical treatment, donor and surrogacy coordination, and legal counsel are handled under one roof rather than divided among separate providers.
For intended parents working with a gestational carrier, a clinic like RSMC handles the medical side of the journey — fertility evaluation, embryo creation, screening and monitoring of the carrier, and the embryo transfer itself — while its in-house programs also take on matching and case coordination that intended parents might otherwise arrange through an independent agency.
RSMC is a for-profit corporation and reports its treatment outcomes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as part of the national assisted reproductive technology clinic reporting system. David Harari, MD, a board-certified OB/GYN who completed his residency at Scripps Mercy in San Diego, serves as president and chief medical officer, and the practice lists additional reproductive physicians on staff.
The center works with intended parents who are LGBTQ+, single, or living outside the United States, and it runs an egg donor program in addition to its surrogacy services. Requirements for surrogates include U.S. citizenship, a no-smoking policy, and parenting at least one child currently living at home; the eligibility criteria, along with available fee, licensing and Better Business Bureau information, appear in the sections below.

English — For RSMC Management I seriously considered RSMC because my Taipei clinic, TFC, works with you. I asked your Chinese-speaking coordinator about oocyte warming survival, ICSI fertilization, blastulation and PGT-A euploid rates because I may ship irreplaceable frozen eggs from Taiwan to RSMC. Instead of answering or referring my questions to an embryologist, I was told essentially: “It is difficult to produce a healthy embryo at 43,” “you should change your strategy,” and later that “the body naturally declines.” I fully understand the challenges of IVF at 43—that is exactly why laboratory performance matters so much to me. My concern is the extremely negative tone, lack of empathy, and recommendation to change my reproductive strategy before my questions were answered or I was evaluated by an RSMC physician. This consultation gave me no confidence in entrusting my irreplaceable frozen oocytes to the laboratory. I sincerely hope RSMC management reviews the training and supervision of its Chinese-speaking/international patient coordinators.
View on Google (opens in a new tab)This company is intensely unethical. We were sent an email they were closing their Irvine location and began trying to transfer our tissue out, no one would respond to emails for up to five days. We were then given THREE DAYS notice as a final deadline to transfer out our tissue. Our embryos were held hostage with a last minute transfer out fee of $1200 which had doubled without us ever having been alerted. Convenient for if you are closing a location without proper notice. No one would write us back so we couldn’t even get an itemized receipt or timely help getting our tissue out by their last minute deadline. They didn’t have our freeze date recorded correctly. I would not trust this facility. It was a truly horrific experience. This is the kind of disorganization and cheap money-grubbing corner-cutting that leads to life changing mistakes.

View on Google (opens in a new tab)This is the worst facility I ever went to. Years later, I’m still traumatized by how incompetent the doctors were in helping me with infertility. Everything from lack of timeline coordination (I had to manage my own protocol with barely any help), to not getting ANY viable embryos because they didn't properly medicate me to collect enough eggs. You are just a number there. I almost gave up because of them. If you want a surrogate, this is a place to go. But if you want to have your own biological child, go somewhere else. I ended up at Kindbody and now thankfully have a 2 year old daughter.
